Ametek buys healthcare communications solutions provider Rauland-Borg
Electronic instruments and electro-mechanical devices maker Ametek has acquired US firm Rauland-Borg for around $340m.
Based in Mount Prospect of Illinois, Rauland-Borg offers mission critical communication solutions for hospitals, healthcare systems and educational facilities.
The deal also includes the payment of $30m based on the achievement of certain milestones.
Rauland-Borg produces Responder platform and Telecenter platform for education.
The company has designed Responder intelligent nurse call solutions to improve workflow and communications and provide remainders, helping to enhance patient safety.
Rauland-Borg generates revenues of around $160m per annum.
Ametek will include Rauland-Borg in its Electronic Instruments Group (EIG), which produces advanced analytical, monitoring, testing, calibrating and display instruments. AIG has annual sales of about $2.4bn.
Ametek CEO David Zapico said: “Rauland-Borg is an outstanding company and we are excited about the acquisition.

“In addition to their strong growth opportunities in its core markets, we see incremental growth opportunities through acquisitions and international expansion.”
Ametek offers medical materials, sub assemblies and connectors, production and quality control equipment.
The firm also offers motion control systems and air moving for dental, hospitals and laboratories, as well as catheter and other implantable devices for varied applications.
In addition, Ametek provides eye care diagnostics products and OEM products for medical devices such as including gauges, electrical cord reels and metal implant preforms.
